Candidate Build -- FlyCast v1.28 available

Postby FlyCastRosco on Fri Dec 12, 2008 5:09 pm

Hello everyone,

We have made some more changes based on all of your feedback.
We are still finishing some issues, but felt that enough things have
been improved to let you guys see how this affects your experience.
We will release another version when the rest of these issues are fixed.

What's new in this version:

More changes in networking especially at start up and initialization.
If you are on a GSM network, you should only have to enter
your APN information once and it will be saved. We also try
to auto detect your APN and test it first.

UI changes for the Bold to handle our new Guide layout.
UI changes for the Storm to handle our new Guide layout.
UI changes for the Storm for a more touch friendly experience (more coming).
Bluetooth adjustment.
Assorted bug fixes.

** NOTE ** Please clear the browser cache on device BEFORE downloading.
This build is available at this location and is version 1.28

We will continue to monitor the forums so let us know if you
run into any issues. Thanks! Remember, more to come.

Rosco awsome job on the new update,

on my pearl 8130 4.5 os it is a much better than before on the connection. I used to connect and it would disconnect for about 30 secs and then when it reconnected it would be solid green on the bottom showing a good buffer. Now just one connection and BAM! you guys ROCK!

The only issue I still see is that when you get a call or sms it still stops and won't go back to playing. You have to hit stop and then choose the channel again.

Rosco, it doesn't save my APN settings. Everything when I start FlyCast, I have to re-enter my AT+T APN settings. I guess this is because I am roaming?

Update : the screen comes up requesting me to enter my APN but if I leave it and not do anything, it will go away after 3 seconds once it has automatically detected my APN settings. If there is a way to make the screen not to come up at all in the next build, that would be great.

Build seems a little better, streams start up right away, but still some will just stop after 30 secs and not resume. It must be Verizon I guess......

Also, another thing, the streams seem to be about 3 minutes behind actual streams that you would hear from you computer. Is there anyway that this could be fixed, or is this all part of how it buffers?

Rosco..Awesome! Solves alot of issues. I've been driving around town all day with my Storm plugged into the car hi-fi and have been listening to high quality streams without a single drop. Perfect.

As a reference this is what I run:

Blackberry Storm 9500 (.78 firmware)
Carrier: Vodafone Spain
Network coverage: Mainly 3G, ocasionally goes to GPRS
Flycast v1.28

Many thanks. Keep those builds coming!

Very slow on my sprint 8330 have to go back to 1.25. App doesn't respond to button presses for at least 5 seconds.

Just downloaded the latest v1.28 version for my Storm. The install and registration is now much easier with the keyboard out of the way.
While I am now able to listen to music via the speaker phone (it's great), I cannot get sound in the bluetooth wireless headset
(Jabra BT 8010), which I would prefer. I am able to listen to music loaded on the Storm via the wireless headset and make cell calls.
Is this an issue? Also, the up/down volume controls don't seem to work to control speaker volume.
I would love to see fixes for these issues. thanks.

POST UPDATE: retried the v1.28 again on 12/16; the wireless headset is now functional; perhaps i had to close and reopen the app to get this to happen.
the up/down volume controls on the side of the Storm, however, are sill not functional for volume; the vertical red volume bar on the UI changes, and will shut off the
sound entirely at its lowest height. The Jabra head set, now that it is working,, does contol the volume.

ADDITIONAL TIP: when using the wireless headset, you can toggle between it and the speaker by pressing the Storm's Menu button and selecting either Speaker or Bluetooth; this toggle reset my Bluetooth headset for listening when it didn't work the second time today. This also seemed to reset the volume controls on the side; both these and the volume control on the bluetooth headset now work together. hope this helps some else.

this is the best app so far on my Storm! many thanks.
